Ellen Clark was born in about 1831 in Eccleston, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Thomas Clark and Elizabeth (Davies) Clark.
By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Lane Ends, Eccleston. Thomas was a watch maker; Thomas junior was an apprentice watchmaker. Henry was an apprentice toolmaker.
By March 30th 1851, they were still in Lane Ends. Thomas was a watch pillar maker; his daughters Ann, Ellen and Elizabeth were servants, sons James and John were apprentices. Rachel was still in school. Two grandchildren, John and Elizabeth Manson, were in the household on the night of the census.
