Attended First Church of God in Erie
Edith Gates, 93, of Spring Valley, Calif., and formerly of 3913 Stanton St., Erie, died in California Sunday, February 2, 1992.
She was born in Erie on May 16, 1898, a daughter of the late Oren and Carrie Range Clark.
Mrs. Gates attended the First Church of God in Erie and the First Church of God in Ashtabula, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Schauer; her second husband, John Gates; a daughter, Mrs. Vesta Boyer; two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Elmer of California and Mrs. James (Gladys) Linhart of Florida; five sons, Harold, Clyde, Kenneth, Paul, and the Rev. Homer Schauer, all of California; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours and calling hours were held in California.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Scott Funeral Home. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
