Godfrey Clarke was son of
of Watford in Northamptonshire. 
He married Elizabeth Milward, daughter of Thomas Milward of Eaton Dovedale in Derbyshire,
who was mother of his son, Gilbert, born about 1645. 
His second wife, also Elizabeth, bore him a son Nicholas who died before the visitation in 1662.
He passed away in 1670.
