James was born about 1831. He passed away in 1915. Mudgee Guardian & Nth Western Representative 14-1-1915. Page 25…. Mr James Clark Sen. passed away at his residence Gulgong early Friday morning at the ripe old age of 83.Over half a century ago he settled down at Canadian Lead, the old digging days, There he conducted a chaff & corn store and later went into farming. He lived at Canadian Lead for 15 years the he and his family moved to the property which he had purchased at Slap Dash, where he resided for abiut 15 years, then he retired and later moved to Gulgong, where he lived until his death. The late Mr Clark was born in England and came to Australia age 21 and some 12 years later made his way to Gulgong, then the centre of great activity, bought about by the discovery of gold… Survived by an aged wife - Mrs E Brigden - Mrs Watt - James of Gulgong & Robert of Sydney…
