Joseph married Sarah Sparkes on 20 July 1813 at Risby, Suffolk.^[1]

Joseph was recorded as a Baptist minister in the 1841 census at Hanslope, Buckinghamshire.^[2]

They had a son called David(?) and a daughter called Jane Maria.

Joseph died 9 July 1843 aged 56.^[3][4]

• Pallot's marriage index notes Joseph was 'of Great Saxham'

• Baptism of Jane Maria Clarke in 1822 gives father Joseph's occupation as 'Thatcher'; 1851 census records wife Sarah as a 'minister's widow'
• Baptism record of Jane Maria also gives two other children baptised 14 June 1820 on same page: - Sarah (born 11 Sep 1817), Dennis Seager (born 8 March 1819)

• daughter Sarah married Charles Peach:

"At the Baptist Chapel, Hanslope, on Monday last, in the presence of Mr. Norris, the registrar, Mr. Charles Peach, of Roade, to Miss Sarah Clarke, one of the daughters of the Rev. Joseph Clarke, Baptist Minister, of Hanslope. This being the first marriage solemnised in the above chapel, a great number of persons were present to witness the ceremony, which was conducted by the father of the bride." • son David seems to be based on the David Clarke boarding with daughter Jane in 1861 census - evidence of relationship needed.

Death

Based on 1841 residence (and 1851 residence of his wife and daughter) death likely occurred/was registered in Newport Bagnell - Hanslope's reg. district^[4]

Death Notice in Baptist Reporter: "July 9, Mr. Joseph Clarke, aged 56, pastor of the Baptist church, Hanslope, Bucks." ^[3]
