Robert Clarke, II, is the son of Robert Clarke, of St Mary's county, Maryland, and Winifred (Seybourne) Clarke, born in England. His mother was said to have been a widow of Maryland Governor, Thomas Greene. [1] Robert married Sarah Combs a daughter of Abraham Combs, who died in St Mary's county, in 1684/85. [2]

1696 Robert Clarke paid estate of Richard Gardiner, Lib 14, fol 78. Payment to Gilbert Clarke. Mentions Thos Gardiner, brother of dec'd, Luke Gardiner, Exr. [note says 'Luke Gardiner knew of Robert Clarke's Father'. - to me Luke is referring to the Surveyor.
