Biography

John Clarke the eldest son of Armiger Edward Clarke of Ardington in Berkshire and his wife, Susanna Temple, was baptised 11 Sep 1608 in Seckington, Warwickshire.[1][2][3][4] His father died in 1630 when John succeeded to his estates.[5]

He married Katherine Bateman of Tottenham in Middlesex.[3] They were parents of sons, John born about 1634, Richard and Daniel and daughters, Susan, Catherine, Elianor and Hester. [3][4]

At the outbreak of the Civil War in 1642 he raised a troop of horse for the King.[4]

John died in 1644. [3] Burke dates his death 1645. [4] He was succeeded by his eldest son, John. [5]
