) Clarke Genealogy; Page 51, 52:ELISHA CLARKE, son of William of Charlestown, R. I.; was born 10 July 1714; married (1st) Judith Segar, daughter of John and Alice (Hull) Segar, born 17 March 1719. John Segar in his will, proved 19 November 1753, gives to “ grandchildren Elisha and Robert Clarke each £20 at age.” As he does not mention his daughter Judith Clarke in the will, it is probable she died before 1753. Elisha Clarke was married (2nd) 25 Feb 1746, at Richmond, by Joseph Clarke, Justice, to Prudence Card. He was admitted Freeman of Westerly in November of 1737. He and Judith, his (1st) wife, of Charlestown, on 26th March 1740, deeded to William Clarke, of Charlestown, 50 acres of land at Charlestown, near land of Robert Money, Robert Clarke, Caleb Clarke, bounded easterly by Beaver River, by conveyance recorded at Charlestown 2 April 1740, in Book 1, p. 34. It is probable that he had many children, but only the names of two are known, viz:

) Elisha Clarke.
) Robert Clarke.
RESEARCH NOTE
Elisha was Administrator of his son Elisha’s estate in 1772 at South Kingstown according to genealogist Alden G. Beaman, publishing in the Rhode Island Genealogical Register at one or more of the following references: 7:76; 9:87-88; 12:116; 13:202-4; and 14:95.
Morrison (see Sources) erroneously attributed estate proceedings commencing Jan. 13, 1779 at Charlestown, RI to Elisha Jr.‘s estate when in fact these were on the estate of Elisha Sr. Per those proceedings, Elisha’s children (undoubtedly all by his second wife) included sons Oliver, William, Job, Christopher, Stephen, Samuel and Roland/Rowllan. Because Robert did not appear in the estate proceedings, he presumably predeceased his father Elisha. Oliver was appointed Administrator, so presumably he was Elisha's eldest surviving son then living in the locale of Charlestown, RI.
