Gertrude was born about Aug 1887, the daughter of Abner and Ingborg Clarkson.[1]

Gertrude Alice Clarkson, 18, and Robert Carrier, a 19 year old delivery man, were married on 25 Dec 1905 at Greenacres, Spokane, Washington.[2] Based on US Census and other records, they had at least the following children:

  • Olive E. Carrier, b. ca. 1908
  • Marion Carrier, b. ca. 1909; m. -- Erickson
  • Robert Clarkson Carrier, b. 30 July 1914 Rathdrum, Kootenai, Idaho
  • Dorothy Evelyn Carrier, b. ca. 1916

In 1920, Gertrude Carrier and her husband Robert B. Carrier lived in the home of his mother-in-law, Ingeborg Clarkson, in Greenacres Township Spokane, Washington. Four Carrier children lived with them. They were farmers.[4]

In 1930 Gertrude Carrier (indexed as Carrion) lived in Astoria, Clatsop, Oregon, with three children. Gertrude is shown as married, but her husband is not present. [5]

Robert and Gertrude were divorced sometime between 1930 and 1940.

By 1940, Gertrude had remarried to Richard Sommer. They were living in Seaside, Clatsop, Oregon, with step-son Bob Carrier. Richard worked as a warehousman in feed grain and wholesale groceries.[6]
