Biography

Wiley Truhart Claunch was born in 1822 in St. Clair County, Alabama. He was the son of Love Claunch and Patsey Arnold.

He married Harriett Nuel Cochran in 1842 in Talladega Co., AL. They may have lived in Noxubee Co., MS for a time but by 1860 they had moved to Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. Wiley died there in 1904.

Collins appointed Guardian of Reuben A. Claunch, minor heir of said estate. On 18 June 1855, final settlement indicated Thomas M. Barker was then Guardian of Reuben A. Claunch, aged over 14 but under 21, then living in Titus Co., TX. Other heirs were Wiley T. Claunch of Noxubee Co., MS, Stephen J. Claunch of Titus Co., TX and John Claunch of Talledega Co., AL. Land (no details) was sold 10 December 1852 for $850. Distributions for Wiley T., Stephen J. and John were assigned for “the use of Seaborne J. Florence” (identity unknown).
