"Sarah Clawson was born, according to the 1850 Fayette, Seneca, NY census, about 1784 in Virginia. In the 1860 census she 13 years older, putting her date of birth as about 1781, a little more likely, and her place of birth is New Jersey.
In a 29 Apr 1816 Seneca County, New York deed, transacted by Sarah's husband Thomas Rothwell, is land from Abraham Closson and his wife Elenor Clawson (and formerly owned by Garrebrandt Closson, deceased).
Sarah married, as his 2nd wife, Thomas Rothwell, bap. 1763 at Bury Parish, Lancashire, England, d. 1845 at Fayette, Seneca, New York. He was the son of Thomas Rothwell, b. 1736 at Holcome, Lancashire, England, d. 1781 at Lancashire, England and Martha Holt, b. between 1731 and 1732 at Brooksmouth, Lancashire, England, d. 1814 at Lancashire, England.
Thomas Rothwell, Jr. had 2 children by his first unknown wife; Thomas b. Virginia and Mary b. Virginia.
