George Butler, in a letter from Nassau on 31 July 1820 to John Claxton (of Philadelphia), referred to Captain William Claxton, Schooner Leo, who was preparing to sail in a few days for London.
Wrote a will, Nassau, Bahamas, 2 December 1831. Executor: Benjamin C Claxton.
Buried Western Cemetery, Nassau. Inscription: Sacred/ To the Memory/ of/ William Viner Claxton/ Born at Bermuda, 11 March 1791/ Died 3 December 1831/ in the 41st year of his age/ at Nassau, in the Island of New Providence/ where he had resided/ for the last 16 years.
