Mary (Clay) Rush was born in England.

Mary Clay was born on 27 March 1797 in Essex, her father, Edward, was 37, and her mother, Isabella, was 34. She married Isaac Waltham Rush on 17 November 1819 in Southminster, Essex. They had nine children in 25 years. She died on 18 May 1878 in Sydney, New South Wales, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in City of Sydney, New South Wales.
