William Clay (1640-1676) is being removed as son of John Clay/Claye, Jr. and wife Mary Pead. The information on the profile of William Clay shows he was one of the Clay family of Isle of Wight and Surry Counties. He did not live in Charles City County and is not related to that family.
Claye-1 and Clay-1179 appear to represent the same person because: These are clear duplicates , however merge order should result in LNAB of Clay which is in agreement with historical evidence and useage.

Clay-1179 and Claye-1 are not ready to be merged because: LNAB "Clay" or "Claye" needs to be resolved prior to merge

Clay-1179 and Claye-1 are not ready to be merged because: LNAB "Clay" or "Claye" needs to be resolved proior to merge

Clay-1179 and Claye-1 appear to represent the same person because: Same given name, same date of birth and location, same father, LNAB spelling Clay/Claye is a variation, not sources given in either profile to support any data. Data is speculative in both profiles. Merge should not be rejexted unless evidence is provided that offers proof that these are separate persons.
