Stephen Clayton, son of William Carter Clayton and Elizabeth (Langley) Clayton, was born on 21 June 1788 at Anderson County, South Carolina, USA.[1]
He married Hannah Watkins, daughter of David Watkins and Temperance Eva "Tempe" Camp, on 5 Dec. 1811 at Anderson County, South Carolina.[1]
He was a farmer when he and Hannah appeared on the census of 29 Aug. 1850 at Pickens County, South Carolina.[2]
Stephen died on 3 June 1879 and was buried at Clayton-O'Dell-Bowen Cemetery, Liberty, Pickens County, South Carolina. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[1]
