The death occurred at Bexley on
the 3rd July of James Clayton, aged
89 years. One of the district's old
and esteemed residents, he was es
pecially well-known about Coolac and
Jugiong. Early in life he married
Miss Caroline Partington, a daughter
of a sergeant of police who was sta
tioned at Gundagai. His wife pre
deceased him 25 years ago. He
leaves a family of five daughters
and three sons, Ada (Mrs Toner),
Young; Mimmie (Mrs Byrnes) Hurst
ville; Lena (Mrs McDonagh) Arn
cliffe; Stella (Mrs Grace) Bexley
Isabella (Mrs Castle), Gundagai; and
George (Darlinghurst); Alf (Bina
long); Bert (Jugiong). He was
buried at Jugiong. Rev. G. Morris
read the burial services. Pall bear
ers were his grandsons, Victor Bush,
Ronnie Byrnes and Alf and Ernie
Sharman.
