Arrived N.S.W. 1803 with his parents William and Sarah Clayton in the convict ship Glatton. Sent 10 years on Norfolk Island then transported with his parents to Tasmania (Van Diemans Land).
Settled in Longford, Tasmania and with his father, built a large house they called Wickford after Wickford in Essex where William Clayton was born. They built a steam operated flour mill in Beefeater Street, Deloraine in 1845 [1]
Henry Clayton died in 1863 off Tamar Heads, Tasmania, in the ship wreck of the brigantine Creole.
