REMSEN, Iowa -- Paul "Pat" Thomas Clayton, 56, of Remsen died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisch Funeral Home and Monument in Remsen, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3328, and American Legion Post 220 of Remsen. Interment will be at a later date in Corydon Cemetery at Corydon, Iowa. Friends may call anytime from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to fischfh.com.
Pat was born Jan. 23, 1954, to Jerrold and Anna "Dutch" (Nickles) Clayton, at Chariton, Iowa. In the mid 1960s, he moved with his family to Sioux City, where he attended Central High School. On Jan. 25, 1972, he entered the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged on Jan. 23, 1976.
In the late 1970s, he married Debbie Davis in California. They moved to Rochelle, Ill., where they had a son, David William Patrick Clayton. On Dec. 18, 1984, he married LuAnn Stoll at Greenfield, Iowa. They made their home at Orient, Iowa. She previously had two children, Greg Sheeder and Claires Sheeder. They had two children together, a daughter, Trishanna, and in 1994, they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where a son, Paul Thomas II was born. Pat moved to Remsen in 2004.
He enjoyed working with his hands and was an artist at concrete work. He enjoyed working with Kevin and Joe Mouser at Mouser Digging and Pump in Remsen. He lived his life by this quote "Live life to love and love life to live".
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jerrold and Virginia Clayton of Bloomington, Ill.; two sons and a daughter, David Clayton of California City, Calif., Trishanna and her husband, Travis Sevier of Orient, Iowa, and Paul Clayton of Iowa; two stepchildren, Greg and his wife, Tammy Sheeder of Orient and Claires and her husband, Paul Shimer of Creston, Iowa; five grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Jeri and David Beckmann of Johnston, Iowa, and Connie and Lonnie Gries of Le Mars, Iowa; a brother, Mike and his wife, Donna Clayton of Winterset, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and dearest friends, Kevin, Malia and Joe Mouser of Remsen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Louise Clayton; maternal grandparents, George and Coyna Nickles; and paternal grandparents, Paul "Pat" and Charlotte Clayton
