DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
I suspect that Mary may be a daughter of John Whiting Clayton Jr. (1724-1820) and Elizabeth (Willis) Clayton (1729-1782). I have attempted to find a will for John Clayton who died in Bedford, Virginia about 1820. The only records so far of his death have been for inventories of his estate about 1821.
I realize that the manager of this profile appears to be considering the possibilty of her being born in England, but with a man by her father's name living in Bedford County, to me it seems to be a possibility to be considered.
The other problem is there is an existing Elizabeth Mary Clayton listed as a daughter in that family. However, her profile is marked as unsourced.
