Research Notes

(Dave Baker-19742)

The marriage included in this Profile, which is also presented in “Family Search” and “Roots Chat” is most likely the marriage between Samuel Clayton (a bachelor) and Mary recorded on 20 May 1777 at All Saint’s Church, Glossop, Derbyshire[2]. If so Samuel would have been 53 years of age and the event took place some 20 years after the birth of Samuel and Mary’s alleged son William. Samuel’s marital status of bachelor, if taken at face value, would preclude Samuel having been previously married and thus strongly indicate William is not the son of Samuel and Mary.
