Shadrack Claywell was born in 1760, in Worcester county, Maryland. Shadrack served as a soldier during the American Revolutionary War, for which he applied for a pension, number #S30929. Shadrack made his residence in Bedford county, Virginia, before migrating to Cumberland county, Kentucky, where he died April 9, 1837. [1]
Shadrack is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as DAR Ancestor #A022937[2]. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of his sons, Shadrack Claywell, Jr. who married Amelia Rush Rush-826; Joel Claywell, who married Lucinda Cain; and William Claywell, who married Maranda Scott; and of his daughter Patsy Claywell, who married Nashville "Nash" Glidewell.
