Hi Pam,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Pam--

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Make the Most of a Profile. Feel free to work at your own pace. :)

As always, your questions are welcome!

p.s. We use Tags and comments in WikiTree to tell others about our genealogical interests & to connect with them.

For instance, adding Cleeves and Wales as tags will make it easier for you to connect with others researching in Wales & the surname Cleeves.

Once entered, you can click on your tags and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those subjects. For surnames, there will be another link on that page for "genealogy content" that shows you all of the profiles with that name. You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Cheers, Liz

P.S. the link to edit your tags is "Followed Tags" under the dropdown menu in the mini-menu at upper right of your profile.

Hi again Pam –

Thank you for volunteering! You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. Since WikiTree is so different from other genealogy sites, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: What's the funniest transcription mistake you've seen?

Welcome!

Liz

Hi Pam! I saw your post on the Cymru project page - that project is more for medieval folks than modern people.

When I went to see what information/sources you had for William and Joseph Cleeves, I found that you haven't started your tree here yet. I'll confirm you in a sec, then you'll be able to add profiles.

I've found the best way to research my family in WikiTree is to post what I know and connect to existing profiles when I find them. That way, you can ask questions in G2G from the profile you're stuck on & folks will know what you have already.

The How to use WikiTree link has basic info on WikiTree. For genealogy, check out this page.

Cheers, Liz

Hi Pam,

Would you like to use WikiTree for research? You are welcome to do so as a guest for as long as you like. You don't need to Volunteer. You can ask a question in our G2G forum, or use the Search function (upper right).

If you are looking forward to adding your own research and contributing to our collaborative worldwide family tree, please leave us another message here on your profile page to that effect and we will be happy to make you a full member.

Thanks,
