His birth was registered in the Jan/March quarter at Torrington.
He became the 5th known generation of the Clemens family to carry on in the occupation of Blacksmith.
Thomas was also a volunteer in the Hussard Army Reserves.
Thomas married to widow, Bessie Ann Newcombe (nee Blight) of Langtree at St Giles in 1901. They settled in one of the cottages at High Bullen and had two known children born during their marriage, John and Annie.
In the 1911 census, Thomas' widowed sister Hanna Harriet Trick is living with the family, also his stepson Arthur Newcombe and worker George Bale.
Thomas is also recorded as being a Farmer on his own account in addition to working as a Blacksmith. His son John was to become a Farmer in St Giles.
Thomas was the last in a long line of Clemens blacksmiths in High Bullen whose main role was to look after the Draught horses on the Stevestone Estate. It was this estate that built the village of St Giles for it's workers.
Thomas died in 1928 aged 75 at St Giles. His death was registered at Torrington in the April/ June quarter.
