William was born about 1778 to Anthony Clemens and Grace Cock. He was baptised on June 26 1780, St Giles in the Woods.
On 4 July 1803, William married Frances Williams by Licence at Bideford. John Lethbridge and Bernard ?? stood as their witnesses.
They had 8 known children during the marriage.
In 1817, William and his family were living at Wells Road, Somerset. (Ann Clemens Baptism record)
He died age 48, in 1828 and was buried at St Phillip & St James, Chapmanslade, Wiltshire, 2 days after his death.
His Will was filed in May 1828, leaving his estate to his wife Frances.
William worked as an Exciseman and was moved around the country frequently. Consequently, his family of 8 children were born/baptised in five different counties.
