Abraham Clemens was born 30 Nov 1752 in Lower Salford, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was the second son of Abraham and Catharine (Bachman) Clemens. He married Mary Steiner in 1778. They had six children: John (1779-1810), Catharine (1782-1869), Magdalena (1784-1859), George (1786-1843), Jacob (1788-1876), and Abraham (1790-1867).

During the American Revolution, Abraham served as a private in the Pennsylvania Line. He lived at the family homestead in Montgomery County throughout his life, adding to the 180 acres he received from his father with a purchase of in 1785 that made him the owner of 256 acres. He died there 15 Sep 1808.
