Hallowell Clement Jr. and Della had five children, the first born in 1922. Hallowell Jr. lived on the Clement ranch and operated it until his children started high school when they moved to Lewistown (Pages of Time, A History of Petroleum County, Montana [Lewistown, Montana : News-Argus printing, 1990, pages 289-290] authored by the Petroleum County Library).

My father attended the University of Southern California, at the Prep School, the University and the Law School. As a young man he spent several years in Los Angeles. He had no plans to return to Montana, but his help was needed on the Clement ranch after his brother Robert died. In 1933, when his eldest child entered Junior High School, he moved his family into Lewistown. Here he held a position as an appraiser and later as the Secretary of the Lewistown Chamber of Commerce (Joan Clement Guttormsen to John Clement, 2 Jun 1994 and 20 Jun1994).

In 1941, Hallowell accepted a position with Braun and Company, a Los Angeles public relations firm. His work involved public and labor relations for several major companies and airlines doing business in Montana and the bordering states (Guttormsen to Clement, 2 June 1994).

Retiring in 1956, Hallowell moved to Arroyo Grande, California. His hobbies were horticulture (nineteen varieties of avocados among other things) and wine making (the worst ever). The house was within walking distance of the ocean and the grandchildren had the most wonderful time visiting. Father spent his last days with his daughter Mary in Seattle where he died at age 92 (Guttormsen to Clement, 2 June 1994). ^[11]
