L. Gary Clemente was a United States Representative from New York. ^{[1] [2]} He was educated at st. Ann's Academy in New York City, ^{[1] [2]} LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale New York ^{[1] [2]} and received his reserve officer's certificate at Plattsburgh in 1925. ^{[1] [2]} Re received a reserve commission in 1929. ^{[1] [2]} In 1931 he graduated from Georgetown Law School ^{[1] [2]} and was admitted to the District of Columbia bar. He practice law in both Washington, D. C. and New York. ^{[3] [1] [2]} When World War II broke out, he served in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant in 1941 ^{[1] [2] [4]} and rose in the ranks to Lieutenant Colonel before his release in 1946. ^{[1] [2]} He was elected to Congress from the 4th district of New York ^[5] and served from 1949 to 1953. ^[6] He was among those congressmen sent overseas to investigate reports of US Servicemen using illegal narcotics. ^{[7] [8] [1] [2]} Afterward, he served as Vice President and Director of Unexcelled Chemical Corporation, and executive with Moderne Paint Company, Premier Chemical Corporation, and Ohio Bronz Company. ^[5] He was the director of Mary immaculate Hospital ^[5] and a member of Disabled American Veterans. ^[5] Gary was sent as a special envoy of the United States to the inauguration of the 34th President of Argentina, Arturo Illia in 1963. ^[7] He died in Jamaica, New York and is buried in Saint John Cemetery. ^{[1] [2] [5]}
