In addition to Margery Tosh, I am following up on my request to be added to the trusted list for Margarey Acres, who is my 9th GGM. Can you please approve these trusted list requests? I will resend both of them now. Thank you.
Just following up on the trusted list request I sent you a few days ago for Margery Tosh (Tosh-271) - as I mentioned, she is my direct ancestor (8th ggm). Can you please approve that request? Thanks!
I’ve not heard back from you regarding the US Southern Colonies Project so have gone ahead and removed you from the project for now. However, if you’d like to rejoin at any stage you would be most welcome to do so by answering the G2G sign-up post here.
Many thanks,
Susie :-)
I sent you a message a week ago to let you know about the exciting changes in the US Southern Colonies Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have no yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? If so, which team(s) would you like to be on and please can you private message me with your e-mail address so I can get you added to the project’s Google Group?
If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’d be most welcome to re-join the project at any time.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes,
Susie - US Southern Colonies Co-Leader
As you will have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.
Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.
Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.
Many thanks,
Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader
Did you know that, consistent with Dutch custom, women in New Netherland (particularly Dutch women) did not use the last names of their husbands? And that this custom continued (at least in some areas) way past the time of British takeover? That interesting custom, coupled with the the WikiTree mantra to Use their conventions, not ours, is why we do not put the name of the husband in the Current Last Name field on profiles such as Eva de la Montaigne unless there are contemporary records that show that the woman used or was known by the name of the husband. I do not find any records of Eva being called Krom, but we can put that name in the Other Last Names field to assist people who search for her with the name of her husband.
Another cool fact about the status of women in New Netherland is that they could own property, make contracts, etc. -- unlike English women of the same era. This is why we sometimes see a married couple writing a joint will.

Please see Ellen Smith's response to your questions about the use of multiple names in profiles here: Westvael-2. Theres a good reason for it.
The Appreciation Team thanks you for all for your hard work for reaching 1000+ (actually, over 5300!!) contributions for the month July 2019. Onward and upward!

On behalf of the US Southern Colonies Project, I am doing a six-month check-in with members to see what aspects of the project interest them most and whether you have suggestions for other project goals. We thank you for your contributions and hope that you are enjoying exploring your ancestors.
In the last two months are you active in this project or other Southern Colonies Subprojects, such as Southern Pioneers Project> Do you have suggestions for Southern Pioneers?
I look forward to hearing from you.
