His father George transferred Cromer Hall to him (Thomas Clerke of Stevenage) in 1557. Thomas retained that manor until his death (about 1597) when it passed to his son and heir William Clerke. This manor was dismembered by members of the Clerke family.
According to Chauncy (Volume 2, page 128), Thomas was named as the second son of George Clerke (in his will dated 08 October 1556.
