Biography

Lawrence Virgil Cleveland was born on December 13, 1894, in White Rock, (Jane), Missouri.[1][2] He was the son of James Cleveland and Etta (Ross) Cleveland Etta Ross. His father, James, was 24 and his mother, Etta, was 21, when he was born. He was the 2nd son of 4 boys. They had a farm in White Rock Twp. (later named Janel) Missouri. He was age 5 in 1900, living on the family farm in White Rock, with his parents Jim and Etta, and older brother Clarence-9.[3] In 1910 they were still living on the same farm, where he was now age 15, and he has two more Brothers. Listed on the 1910 Census are his father, James-39-Head of household-farmer, Etta-36-wife, Clarence A -18, Laurence V-15, Arley L-9, and Earnest B-5.[4]
His discription on the WW II Draft Registration was: Height-5’8”; Eye Color-Gray; Hair Color-Black; Weight-147; Complexion-Light.[5]
He married Myrtle Lucella (Ford) Cleveland January 17th 1915, in McDonald Co., Missouri, at the age of 20, and She was 21,[6] Myrtle was the daughter of Harvey Lafayette Ford and nancy Elizabeth (Jackson) Ford. They had two sons and three daughters.

He was a farmer, and he and his family lived in Jane Missouri; his education had been to 8th grade. They moved to Wyoming in 1919, along with is Brother Clarence and wife Kate. Lawrence worked in the Sugar Beet Farms. Clarence worked installing new power lines in Riverton, Wyoming. [8] They stayed until Christmas, then Myrtle got homesick and they all moved back to Missouri. Where he farmed in Jane again. In 1920 they were in White Rock/Jane, on a farm. [9] [10] They lived in Craig Co., Oklahoma for awhile as their twin's, Sterl Franklin, and Meril were born there. Later they moving to a farm in Pineville, Missouri. In 1940 they were on their family farm in Pineville, Missouri.[11]
He died on September 27, 1974, in Carl Junction, Missouri, at the age of 79, and was buried in Jane, Missouri in the Jane Cemetery.[1][12]
