Lieutenant Lancelot Arthur Cleveland, Agent at Hawthorn, joined the 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen/Australian Imperial Regiment (A.I.R.) and sailed from Port Melbourne on the "Victorian" on 1 May 1900 for South Africa.[2][3]
Launcelot Arthur Cleveland, single, public accountant, applied for a commission in the AIF on 20th October 1915 and commissioned as Lieutenant in 18th Battery, transfered to 17th Battery then to 1st ANZAC ammunition Park. Awarded the Military Cross in January 1917. Promoted to Captain prior to retirement in September 1917.[4][5]
Launcelot Arthur Cleveland died at Melbourne East 1942 age 66[6].
