Notes

Levi and Sarah left Tennessee between 1844 and 1846. They settled in McDonald County, Missouri, purchasing the first farm on Big Sugar Creek, six miles above Pineville. He was aan officer in the Confederate Army earlier in the War. In 1863, he was taken out of his home by two men of the Federal Home Guard and shot and killed. It was common practice to execute known Confederate sympathizers in retaliation for atrocities committed against Union men and, according to the surviving records, that was the case in this instance.
