Biography

As summarized by Bellewes:[1]

William and Elizabeth Clifford had issue : —
1. Lewis Clifford, married Anne, daughter of Lord Moleyns. Died v.p., leaving a son, Alexander, born November 30th 1429, and a daughter Elizabeth, who married William Laycroft, John Kelsham, of Headcorn, in his will, dated April 6th 1431, proved P.C.C. (16 Luffenham), mentions "Alexander Clifford, my filiolus"


Lewis died before October 1438 when his father's heir was declared to be Lewis's son Alexander.

IPM of his father taken 20 October 1438 at which time his heir was his grandson Alexander Clifford, aged 8 years and more on 30 November last. [2]

William Moleyns, born 7 Jan. 1377/8. He married before 29 Sept. 1401 Margery ___. They had two sons, William, and John, and two daughters, Katherine and Anne (wife of Lewis Clifford).

ii. Katherine Moleyns, married John Howard, K.G., Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshal of England.

His marriage to Anne Moleyns has been published in books, but the books fail to list his birth year.

[CLIFFORD2] does not list his birthdate, but indicates he died before his father's death in 1438. Tudorplace lists his brother's birthdate as 1408, the same as listed in wikitree.com
