Research Notes
John's origins have proved difficult. His Marriage and Death Certificates give different names for his parents. An entry from Ireland Roman Catholic Baptisms in Diocese of Cork have a John Clifford born 21st May, 1865 to Denis Clifford and Cathe Kenealy of Ladys Well Hill, Cork baptized at St. Patrick's Cork City on 28th May, 1865. Denis Clifford married on 7th February, 1842 Kate Kennelly at St. Mary's, Cork. There is no way of knowing for sure if this is this John Clifford.
Another possibility is an entry in Catholic Parish Registers 1655-1915 for John Clifford Baptised 29th November, 1866 at Kilworth, Waterford and Cork, Parents Patrick Clifford and Bridget Harrington.
