Biography
Joseph was born in 30 March 1794 Belmont, New Hampshire. He is the son of Joseph Clifford and Lydia Moody. [1] Joseph was a large man of substantial appearance and of sturdy character. He was a Representative of the town of Gilmanton.
On July 12, 1816, in Bath Maine, Joseph married his cousin, Clarissa Clifford, born October 14, 1798, in Bath, Maine, a daughter of David Clifford and Lydia (Jones) Clifford . His father, Joseph Clifford, born 1718 and Mary (Clifford) Healy are their common ancestors. Joseph and Clarissa are buried in Buzzell Cemetery, in Gilmanton, NH, in what is known as "Clifford Row." [2]
Researcher's Notes
Joseph's Find A Grave memorial indicates that he was born in Belknap county, however, Belknap county, New Hampshire was established in 1840. [3]
