The first mention of Bartholomew Cleyford is from a document from Medieval and Early Modern England in the reign of Henry VIII in Wiltshire in 1516.
in 1531 the Chippenham watermill was leased for 21 years by George Earl of Huntington to Bartholomew Cleyford of Chippenham, Miller, together with a parcel of ground called Paradise.
He passed away in 1541.
