I regret to have to chronicle the death of Mrs Mary Ann Gootlin, senr., which occurred at her residence, Belvedere-road, on Saturday. The late Mrs Goodin, was the widow of the late Mr Phillip Goodwin, who died some years ago. ..... The deceased lady was seventy-one years of age, and was born at Kent, in 1831. She came to New Zealand with her parents in the immigrant ship Lord William Bentick, and settled in the Hutt. In 1860, she came to the Wairarapa, where she settled with her husband. The deceased lady leaves a large family, all grown-up, to mourn their loss.
She is buried in Clareville Cemetery, Carterton [5]
