Biography

Timothy Clifton was born on 9 Mar 1719/20, in Rochester, Plymouth County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Benjamin and Sary Clifton.[1]

Timothy and Deliverance Bowls published their intention to marry in Rochester on 9 Dec 1742.[2] They were married on 3 Jan 1742/3.[3]

Probate

Timothy Clifton of Rochester died intestate and on 21 August 1766, Benjamin Clifton of Rochester was granted the administration of his estate.[4]

His inventory was taken on 25 August 1766 in Rochester.[5]

In 1766 Benjamin Clifton of Rochester was appointed guardian of his minor children, Mary Clifton, Anna Clifton, and Lydia Clifton.[6][7]

In 1767, an account of his estate by Benjamin Clifton was recorded which included debts paid, and administration fees.[8]

In 1776, his son, Timothy above the age of 14 years, made the choice of Savory Hathaway of Rochester to be his guardian.[9]

In 1776, his real estate was divided into nine parts, Timothy Clifton (eldest son) (2 parts), Dorothy, wife of Savory Hathaway of Rochester, Mary, wife of John Keen of Rochester, Lydia, wife of Ebenezer Holmes of Rochester, Anna, wife of Ebenezer Bowles of Rochester, Deliverance, wife of Isaac Savory of Wareham, Meribah Clifton (a minor), and his deceased daughter Sarah (whose share is divided between her siblings).[10]
