Biography

Clyde Sylvester Cline was born on 16 February 1909 in Flemingsburg, Fleming, Kentucky, United States, son of Joseph Henry Cline (1882–1953) and Sarah Frances (List) Cline (1882–1965).

Clyde died on 10 December 1987 in Danville, Vermilion, Illinois, United States, aged 78. He was buried in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois.[1]

Obituary

CLINE, CLYDE S. - Funeral services for CLYDE S. CLINE, 78, of Gibson City will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City, with military graveside rites by Lee Lowery American Legion Post No. 568 of Gibson City. Mr. Cline died at 2:35 p.m. Thursday, 12-10-1987 at the Veterans Adm. Medical Center, Danville. He was born 2-16-1909 at Flemmingsburg, Ky, a son of Joseph and Sara List Cline. He married Betty L. Means on 8-27-1938 at Rensselaer, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Jerry Cline of Charlotte NC, and Loren (Shorty) Cline and David Cline, both of Gibson City; two daughters, Joey Thompson of Gibson City and Rebecca Wurmnest of Sibley; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Cline of Heyworth; and four sisters, Ethel Zimmerman of Gibson City, Freda Meece of Ludlow, Lucille Fernald of New Hampshire and Vera Meece of Rochelle. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Mr. Cline was a lifetime resident of the Gibson City area. He was a retired truck driver and fertilizer dealer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a past commander and a life member of Brotherton-Keller Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6289, Gibson City. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Gibson City. [Contributed by Gail Hahn Hutchcraft]
