Biography

Sir Edward Clinton is the second son of Henry Clinton, 2nd Earl of Lincoln and Lady Catherine Hastings.[1] He married Mary Dighton, daughter of Thomas Dighton.

He was probably baptised on 30 May 1578 at Tattershall, Lincolnshire. The parish register appears to record "Edward Fines sone to the Right Honorable Sr Henrie Fines Kinges Lord Clinton & Sey the xxxth May".[2]

He is probably the Edward Fiennes who was knighted on 18 March 1616/7 at Royston.[3]
