Disputed Origins
A previous version of this profile, citing only an online tree, claimed that this Joseph Clough was born 5 March 1647 in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, son of PGM-era immigrant John Clough and Jane Unknown, and that Joseph died 5 Feb 1684 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts.
An examination of both the Hingham and Haverhill vital records finds no such records; and in fact a search for Joseph Clough anywhere in Massachusetts in this time frame finds no record of such a person.
In addition, Anderson, in his Great Migration profile of John Clough includes no son by the name of Joseph among the known children of John.
Lacking evidence that this Joseph Clough existed, he will be detached from the above parents.
