Biography

Edward was born in 3Q1900, the fourth child of Willis Coates and Hannah McDonald. On 17 September 1930, he married Margery Gibb in her hometown of Morpeth, Northumberland. The only child of this couple I've been able to identify was George W who was born 2Q1934 in Houghton le Spring, County Durham. In 1939 when the England and Wales register mini-census was recorded, Edward was working as a bus driver and George was not living with them. Edward died in 2Q1955 in Durham South East and Margery in 2Q1958 in Sunderland.
