Biography

Alfred's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1849 in the Boston district.[1] He was baptised on 30 September 1849 and was the son of Edward Coates and Elizabeth Burgess. [2]

Alfred married Kate Scrivener, daughter of Thomas Scrivener, on 25 June 1889 in Boston.[3]

Their children were:
