Jeremiah Cobb Jr was born about 1774, possibly in Edgefield, South Carolina. Jeremiah was the son of Jeremiah Cobb and Rebecca Imtrey.
Jeremiah and his brother Sanders Cobb received a deed of mortgage from their step father Simon Gentry dated the 11th of July 1795, which reads in part as follows: "South Carolina - To all to whom these presents shall come I Simon Gentry send Greeting - Whereas I the said Simon Gentry by account up to this day (for property made use of belonging to my step sons, Jeremiah Cobb and Sanders Cobb,) the date of this deed of Mortgage Viz on the Eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Ninety Five - Become held and firmly bound unto Jeremiah & Sanders Cobb in the sum of Fifty pounds sterling vs money of said state (referances being thereto had or made unto the aforesaid account) . . . have bargained & sold & by these presents doth bargain & sell unto the said Jeremiah & Sanders Cobb, or their legal representatives, which may survive them the following land, horses, cattle, & household furniture (to Wit) one tract of land containing one hundred & forty seven acres lying & being on the head of little Creek bounding N. Wt by lands belonging to William Thomas, with the land where the said Gentry now lives on, with the crop thereon - one sorrel stallion colt named Pegion, two black mares, named Bon & bird, & one bay mare colt named lark, also four cows & calves, two two year old hifers & a bull, & all my house hold furniture & working tools, viz. two beds, two potts, one dutch over, 2 dozen pewter plates, three basons, three dishes, sett cups & saucers, one doz. spoons and one doz. knives & forks, plows hoes & axes &c. To have and to hold the said bargained premises, unto the said Jeremiah & Sanders Cobb, their heirs & assigns . . . In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seal, the day and year above written. Signed seated & delivered in presents of us Martin Morgan, Green Moore [signed] Simon Gentry . . ."[1]
Jeremiah married Elizabeth Corley sometime before 1800, possibly in Edgefield District, South Carolina. No marriage record has been located.

Jeremiah appears in the 1810 Federal census in Edgefield District, South Carolina. Jeremiah's household appears as follows: 1 male under age 10; 1 male age 26 thru 44; 3 females under age 10; and 1 female age 26 thru 44.[3]
Jeremiah appears in the 1820 Federal census in Edgefield District, South Carolina. Jeremiah's household appears as follows: 3 males under age 10; 1 male age 16 10 18; 1 male age 45 and over; 3 females under age 10; 1 female age 10 to 15; 1 female age 16 to 25; and 1 female age 26 to 44;[4]
Jeremiah appears in the 1830 Federal census in Edgefield District, South Carolina. Jeremiah's household appears as follows: 2 males under age 5; 1 male age 5 to 10; 1 male age 60 to 69; 2 females age 15 thru 20; 1 female age 20 to 29; and 1 female age 50 to 59.[5]
Jeremiah was paid on the 4th of April, 1834 his wife Elizabeth's interest in her father, Catlett Corley's estate: "The estate of Catlett Corley dec'd in A/C current with Robert Jennings Excor
Paid ordinary for this return 3.00 [Total]564.47 1/2 . . . This A/C current exam'd & sworn to 9 April 1834 . . ."[6]
Jeremiah's family moved west to Mississippi, settling in Pontotoc County, Mississippi sometime around 1844.
Jeremiah's exact date of death is unknown but he is believed to have died about 1845, possibly in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. No will or probate estate records have been located for Jeremiah.
