John "Jack" Cobb was born about 1820 in Lincoln, North Carolina.[1]
On 27 February 1841 in Lincoln County he married Ann Long.[2][3]
They moved to Grainger county Tennessee after the birth of their youngest son Robert Lee Cobb between 1865 and 1870.[4][5]
A few notes: John Cobb has been accepted as Robert Cobb and Eleanor Phillips son and is a direct descendant of Ambrose Cobb(1729-1797) and Sarah Howell(parents not confirmed)(1734-1799.)
He is sometimes merged with a possible cousin, John G. Cobb(1815-1881.)
John G. Cobb is the son of Elizabeth Martha Goforth(1790-1860) an a William Cobb who is not the same William Cobb(1765-1833) who married Mary Polly Abernathy(1770-1846.)
Researchers are still trying to identify that William Cobb.
Mike Cobb has done extensive research on Ambrose Cobb which is found at thecobbandcobbs.com site and his history of Lincoln County, North Carolina.
John Cobb's profile is missing several siblings: Sarah Cobb,(Lowrance), Robert Cobb(Hope) and William Rufus Cobb(Abernathy) and I will reach out to the managers of those profiles to see about connecting families.
