OLD WOMAN'S FALL

Accidental Death is verdict

INQUESTS into the deaths of two elderly persons as the result of injuring their thighs, through falling to the floor at their homes in Bronte and Waterloo, were held yesterday by the City Coroner, Mr. Farington, who found that death, in each instance had been due to natural causes, accelerated by accidental falls. "Sweetheart, don't go near the door, it is an immense, strong wind, and it is, bitterly cold," said Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Moriarty, 70, to her husband, at their residence in Leichhardt Street, Bronte, on August 25. Mr. Moriarty had been about to pay a milkman. The woman, after warning her husband, slipped on the floor of a highly polished room, injuring one thigh. " Are you hurt? " asked the man. " I think I am. It is very painful, " replied Mrs. Moriarty, who was placed in bed. The Coroner found she had subsequently succumbed to uraemia. [2]
