Ermina F. Coburn was born in 1887 in Lynn, Massachusetts. She was the child of Miriam L. Smith or Malvina L. and George E. Coburn, Jr., the grandchild of Civil War veteran George E. Coburn of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, and the wife of William Faulcon.
Her father and brother Lester also worked in the shoe industry.
