Biography

Robert was born in about 1699. It is believed that he was the son of John Cochran who emigrated to New Hampshire in 1718, but no documents have proved this.

Robert married Christian in Londonderry, NH, Feb. 9, 1725.[1] He is also listed on Passenger lists as married to Christian in 1725.

He is reported to enter New Hampshire in 1725 with his wife Christian.[2] This reference implies that Robert emigrated from Northern Ireland, and that his ancestors had migrated from Scotland to Northern Ireland. NOTE: Three generations later, James Cochran claimed to be "of Scottish extraction."

Robert and Christian had at least three children:

  • John 1726[3]
  • Jane 1728
  • Robert 1730

NOTE: I am not certain of the significance of the statement that John Cochran was Canadian - see son John's birth record.

Robert was killed by a fall from a horse in 1753 (26th year in reign of George II).[4]

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
