The biography for Marie Holcomb is empty. What can you add?
My father's mother kept hand-written 'books'. They were the only history we had as a family. It kept us connected through the years. I became interested in the 70s and started a collection of my own 'books' mostly taken from hers, but fleshed out to include the maternal side of my family. I unfortunately lost interest, life happened, I got married, started my own family.
Then a wonderful thing happened. The internet. One was able to chat freely and quickly across miles and generations. I renewed my interest in the history, combining and digitizing the pictures my grandmother had so lovingly collected and processing them into pages that incorporated one's data.
I gave back to my grandmother. I gave her the information I had gleaned and sometimes it didn't completely mesh with hers, but mostly did.
I lost my grandmother in 2001. She instilled in me that this is something that has importance; to know one's beginnings, to share one's past.
I have met and kept so many new cousins in the last 10 years! It is and has been such a wonderful process!

You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!
I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
