Allan died after 8 May 1480 but before 26 Jan 1484 giving span of just over 44 months about Mar 1482 +/- 22 months.
According to Burke's Peerage,[6][7] Allan had a charter from King James II for the lands of Cochrane in Mar 1457. Surely, one can expect that he was at least 14, so born before 1443[5] but Scots Peerage mentions a charter witness on 25 Sep 1452[1] placing Allan's birth prior to 25 Sep 1438.
Some sources identify his father as Robert (Cochrane) de Cochrane whilst other sources say he is the son of John Cochrane POSSIBLE son of the aforementioned Robert.
